About the project

Set against the backdrop of the Watergate scandal, the Emmy award‑winning company HBO Max partnered with us to create the next HBO logo opening credits – the iconic intro that fans all around the world recognize.

THE APPROACH

The brief was to create a seventies-style adaptation of the HBO logo. After crafting a retro version of the HBO logo reminiscent of the era, we took the authenticity a step further by producing the intro and outro animations using real televisions from the 1970s instead of relying on computer-generated effects. We ran multiple tests to perfect the sequence, resulting in an incredibly authentic and nostalgic experience that perfectly complements the show's theme and era.

The Result

For the very first time in HBO’s history, the creative vault was unlocked. As brand creators, we were granted the rare privilege of redefining an iconic pillar of the network’s identity. The result was a resounding triumph: the asset received unanimous approval from the entire Board, marking a defining moment for the iconic brand.
